The SMS in Practice: Advancing Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance workshop explores common challenges identified during FTA technical assistance center inquires, audits, and Agency Safety Plan reviews, including: o Identifying hazards, consequences, and risks o Distinguishing causal factors critical to determining safety mitigations o Prioritizing risks through in-depth analysis o Monitoring the effectiveness of safety mitigations Space is limited to 50 participants due to the interactive format. A waitlist will be provided. If there is a high demand, more virtual workshops may be offered. The workshop takes place over two full days. The intended workshop participants are transit agency safety department personnel, rail and bus transit operations and maintenance managers who oversee agency safety performance, and State Safety Oversight Agency managers and staff. All participants should have a basic understanding of the four components of SMS as they are applied to the transit industry prior to taking this class.
